Hi there! If you're in Bagshot, would Farnham be a reasonable distance for you to travel? I give small group drumcircles. And even some latin percussion to boot if enough people want it.

After having drummed in the beautiful Spanish Hills with my bro, I returned and bought myself a djembe drum! I am in Bagshot, Surrey and would love to jam and learn with others in the local area! Anyone interested and local to me then please do get in touch!

December 9th, 10th and 11th 2005
Hebden Hey, Hebden Bridge, West Yorks

Residential weekend

Ticket Price £75
includes accommodation and tuition.

This is an exciting opportunity to take part in a weekend of drum, dance and song in the beautiful setting of Hardcastle Crags near Hebden Bridge.

Teachers and Workshops
Top quality teachers - Chartwell Dutiro: Zimbabwe, Baba Kone: Burkino Faso, Mockoulo Siwane: Senegal, Saliou Bah: Guinea, Ben Lawrence and Paul Dear: Britain - will be leading workshops in west African djembe, doun doun, m’bira, balafon, Ghanaian drumming and African dance. Friday night will include a drum circle, opening ceremony and group performances. (If your drum group want to perform please contact us). On Saturday you will study with a teacher all day to prepare for performances that evening by workshop participants. Please choose your preferred workshop for Saturday below, as numbers are very restricted. Workshops will continue on Sunday until the closing ceremony in the afternoon. There are only fifty places available overall so please book early to ensure your place in the workshop of your choice.

Hebden Hey is a scout camp of two hostels with surrounding grounds in the heart of Hardcastle Crags two miles from Hebden Bridge. There is road access and some parking spaces. There is a fire pit that, weather permitting, we can use. Camping and camper vans are not permitted on site.

There is fairly limited parking on site so please share transport wherever possible. Disabled drivers please discuss your requirements with organisers. There is good public transport to Hebden Bridge with trains running regularly from Leeds and Manchester Victoria. Let us know if you are coming by bus or train and we can arrange to pick you up at the station.

There are two hostels with heated rooms for workshops and dormitory accommodation. Please bring all your own bedding - pillow, sleeping bag and extra blankets if needed. The dormitories will be single sex wherever possible. The buildings are both non-smoking environments. You can arrive from 5pm on Friday and we aim to clear the site at around 5pm on Sunday. Please contact us if you have any questions.

The fabulous and reasonably priced Fabian’s Café will be offering delicious African/Caribbean food. Bring your own alcohol.
